Hello,
This is a
mass-email but it is no spam (at least not intentionally).
My name is
Lior Shamriz, and I'm a filmmaker currently living in Berlin (EU).
I'm writing
this newsletter just in order to inform you of some news and some new films:
1.
SATURN RETURNS, Max Ophüls Preis
Nomination
There are No Different Cultures, Only Different Classes
My fiction
film SATURN RETURNS is nominated for the MAX OPHÜLS PREIS. This competition for
debut films from the German speaking region will take place later this week in
Saarbrücken. Come and watch our film if you are there. This will be our local
German premiere, after our international premiere last November, opening the
Onde section of the Torino Film Festival in Italy.
The film is a
completely independent modest production, 93 minutes long, written by Imri Kahn
and myself, starring Tal Meiri, Chloe Griffin and Joshua Bogle.
Shot mainly in
Berlin and a little in Israel, the film tells the story of a relationship
between two young women - a Canadian bohemian living in Berlin, and a new-comer
to the city from Israel. It examines contemporary so-called “inter-cultural”
relationships among young people in a big city, questioning whether what we
conceive of as “inter-cultural” only disguises what has already become one
global social-class system.
You can read more about the film, watch trailers,
read reviews et cetera here:

2.
RETURN RETURN, Berlin Film
Festival
Around SATURN
RETURNS I have made three SATELLITE FILMS: Videos that either make use of clips
from this fiction film or are related to it in a way.
The first of
the three, a 26 minutes long film titled RETURN RETURN, will be showing at the
Forum Expanded section of the 60th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale).
If you are
visiting the festival next month, come and watch the film on February 16 or
February 18 at the Kino Arsenal.
You can read
more about it here:

3.
SATELLITE FILMS - Free for
Download
In the
meanwhile, I have decided to put the two other SATELLITE FILMS for free
download.
RITENUTO (63
minutes) and TITAN (50 minutes) are available for free download for all the
citizens of the world.
Sharing is the
material with which the bricks of civilization are attached.
IMPORTANT:
The films are
suitable either for background home viewing ("Desktop Films") or for
theatrical viewing:
You are
allowed to just play the video on your desktop, then go back to what your were
doing before (staring into space, for example), while leaving the films as a
live desktop and occasionally glancing back at the screen.
You are, of
course, also very encouraged to view the films as theatrical pictures, in which
case you would sit and constantly stare at the motion picture, during the whole
duration of the film.
You can
download the films through links that are available at:
http://www.jehuti.com/Return_Return/download/
The Satellite
Films are released under a creative commons license.
4.
MIRRORS FOR PRINCES - In
Postproduction
We have
finished shooting the film MIRRORS FOR PRINCES.
The film, a
story of a father and a son, is the first motion picture to come from Sumer
since circa 2000BC. It was shot in and around Berlin in the late summer of
2009.
A short press
release regarding the production is at:
Here you can
see one picture which was taken on set:

The film is
now in editing and hopefully will be ready by spring / summer.
A LOW LIFE MYTHLOGY - In
Preproduction
With a modest
support from the Berlin Brandenburg Medienboard and the Bambi Foundation we are
now preparing for our next production, A LOW LIFE MYTHOLOGY, a love-story about
two young artists who live in Berlin.
We are
currently in the process of preproduction.
We will enter
the stage of casting in late winter / early spring 2010.
We are
especially looking for actors/actresses,
for leading and supporting parts.
If you live in
Berlin or around, at your early 20s, playful, open-minded, and willing to
experiment with methods of acting, feel free to send a CV/Showreel to film@jehuti.com
We will also
need actors/actresses other ages and
other crew people, so please don't
be shy to contact with your details, if you are interested.
